Wines are sold by the case (usually 12 bottles, but several wines come in 6-packs) and are delivered to your home within a couple of days. Here is a shortlist of some current favourites that we’d highly recommend.
Cabert Prosecco / Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy
There’s no better way to signal happy hour than with a well-chilled bottle of bubbles. This extra dry style from Cabert seriously hits the spot. Fresh, fruity and with a slight creaminess on the palate.
DeLoach 2018 Chardonnay / California
Deloach is one of the pioneering producers of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in the Russian River Valley. This Chard ticks all the boxes. It has ripe new-world fruit, fresh acidity derived from cooler-climate coastal vineyards, and a moderate amount of oak to keep everything in balance.
Staete Landt 2019 Map Maker Sauvignon Blanc / Marlborough, New Zealand
This quintessential Marlborough Sauv Blanc offers incredible value. It’s dry and tangy with green capsicum, lime zest, gooseberry and subtle tropical and passionfruit flavours. A cut above anything on the shelves at this price, it’s juicy, refreshing, and full of energy with a grassy edge.
Bernard Defaix 2018 Chablis / France
Defaix is a family winery that produces polished organic wines. This classic Chablis is bone-dry, racy, and taut. Textured and electric with notes of lemon zest, chalk, and salty minerality.
Rivera 2018 Marese / Puglia, Italy
Forget Pinot Grigio! Try this unique Southern Italian white made from 100% Bombino Bianco, a native grape to Puglia. It has a little more concentration but is kept fresh by a streak of tangy acidity. Crisp, fruity, and dry with notes of preserved lemon, pineapple, and white flowers.
Vincent Caillé NV Je t’aime mais j’ai soif / Muscadet, France
The name of this charming French white translates to ‘I love you but I’m thirsty’.’ Is there a better quarantine slogan? Caillé is a little organic winery in Muscadet in the western Loire. This wine is a spin on Muscadet (a typically light, citrussy, salty seafood wine) that sees the addition of Grenache, Marsanne and Rousanne, adding a little extra weight and depth to the palate.
Pazo San Mauro 2018 Albariño / Rías Baixas, Spain
This is as beautiful as the bottle suggests. It’s the perfect example of what Albariño should be, made from a winery housed in a 16th century stone cottage across the river from Portugal. It’s fruity, fresh, aromatic, and floral, finishing dry with mouthwatering acidity. Tastes like spring!
Paolo Conterno 2018 Langhe Arneis / Piedmont, Italy
Arneis is a native variety to Piedmont in northwestern Italy, home to Barolo and Barbaresco. This expression from Conterno has great density, medium body, and mineral texture. Notes of citrus, stone fruit, orange blossom, and a hint of bitter almond. Structured and great with food!
Domaine des Aspras 2018 Rosé / Provence, France
Nothing marks the beginning of spring quite like Provence rosé. Domaine des Apras is located in Correns, an 800-person village that was the first entirely organic town in France. The wine is light salmon-coloured, fruity, dry, and savoury with notes of apple, strawberry, rose, and mint.
Echeverria 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva / Curicó Valley, Chile
The Echeverria family has been making wine in Chile’s Curicó Valley for nearly 100 years. They farm sustainably and produce wines of incredible value. The Reserva Cab is medium to fuller bodied with real Cabernet character, freshness, and a moderate amount of oak.
Pagliarese 2016 Chianti Classico / Tuscany, Italy
Pagliarese is owned by the Poggiali family who also own the famed Fèlsina winery. This Chianti is from the brilliant 2016 vintage and is a blend of 90% Sangiovese with little Canaiolo and Mammolo added for a slightly more modern style. Black cherry, herbs, tobacco and forest floor.
Solo Contigo 2016 Malbec Primera Amante / Mendoza, Argentina
The Primera Amante Malbec is bursting with bold dark fruit, violet, and pepper notes. The palate is lush and round with soft tannins. Solo Contigo’s vineyards are at high elevation – 3000 feet above sea level – which moderates the daytime temperatures and keeps acidity in check!
Telmo Rodriguez 2018 LZ / Rioja, Spain
Telmo is one of the best winemakers in Spain. LZ is his unoaked Rioja that is fermented in concrete to highlight the pure character of Tempranillo. It’s a medium-bodied, fresh wine dominated by red fruit, licorice, and mineral character. All from biodynamic estate vines!
Dominique Piron 2017 Morgon ‘La Chanaise’ / Beaujolais, France
Of the 10 Crus in Beaujolais, Morgon is known for producing fuller bodied wines. This 100% Gamay is made from 50-year-old vines grown on granitic soils. If you prefer elegant, savoury, old-world wines, this is for you. Mid-weight frame with notes of blueberries, violet, and beets.
Raats 2017 Dolomite Cabernet Franc / Stellenbosch, South Africa
Bruwer Raats is one of the most exciting winemakers in South Africa known specifically for his Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc. This 100% Cab Franc is silky and pure, with notes of dark cherry, green pepper and herbs. The palate is juicy and tangy with distinct wet-stone minerality.
