Italy -Castiglion del Bosco
Castiglion del Bosco extends over 1800 hectares, with 62 of them dedicated to vineyards, and it is one of the most prominent producers in Montalcino, both for the history of the estate and for its size, unchanged in the last 800 years. In 1967, when Consorzio del Brunello di Montalcino was born, Castiglion del Bosco was one of its seven founding members. After several ownership changes over the last 30 years, since 2003 Castiglion del Bosco is owned by Massimo Ferragamo, Chairman of Salvatore Ferragamo USA, who fell in love with the estate, its splendidly isolated woods and with its magic ridges.
Only Sangiovese grapes are planted in Castiglion del Bosco and the whole range of wines produced here is inspired to the great appellations of the territory, from the pleasant rosso di Montalcino to the great classic Brunello, showcased in three different interpretations. In fact, next to the regular Brunello di Montalcino, Castiglion del Bosco also produce a sumptuous single vineyard called Campo del drago and a magnum-only Brunello riserva named Millecento, made only in great vintages.
