Italy – Podere La Berta
Beginning in 2009, the Poggiali family has taken over responsibility for an adventure that began in the 1970s, launching a process of over-arching recovery and enriching the exceptional viticultural qualities of the area with those of resourcefulness, expertise, far-sightedness, perseverance, sensitivity, and obsessive dedication to quality.
The three brothers Giovanni, Nicolò, and Domenico commit themselves and La Berta to a new cultural program of cherishing and showcasing their Romagna identity and bringing it with them into the future.
Podere La Berta overlooks the Lamone valley nestled in the Tuscan-Romagna Appenines, the former gateway to Florence between Faenza and Brisighella.
Twenty-two acres of clay-rich soil that preserve and pass down the human effort that gives the wine its particular character, infusing the nature’s breath in its deep red and golden white grapes.
In order to be respectful of the growing area character, we work only with native grape varieties, and the wines are the fruit of a near-obsessive purism and minimalist approach that starts in the vineyard and finishes, without compromises, in the bottle.
We focus our efforts on Sangiovese, in line with family tradition, but we grow Albana, Trebbiano, Pagadebit.
A modest production that is at the same time a compelling account of a growing area.
