AA BADENHORST | AA Badenhorst Family Wines are grown, made and matured on Kalmoesfontein farm from 28ha of old bush vines in the Swartland appellation of South Africa. The property is owned by cousins Hein and Adi Badenhorst. On Kalmoesfontein it is back to basics, using traditional winemaking equipment and an old cement kuipe. “We make wines with immense character. We’re using what we can afford. We are making the best wines we can.”

Why the Secateurs? Secateurs shape our bush vines during the winter pruning and are used to pick the ripe grapes in summer and represents three generations of nurturing vines to produce wines of integrity.

TASTING NOTE | The Secateurs Chenin Blanc displays incredible texture and palate weight reflective of time on less in old oak casks. The aromas are flinty with honey, orange blossom and white stonefruit notes.

VINEYARDS & WINEMAKING | Our Chenin Blanc grapes are sourced from dry-farmed old bush vines on the northern side of the Paardeberg mountain grown on naturally low-yielding granite soils. The 2014 spent time on its lees in concrete tanks and old casks. 12.5% Alcohol. 4.2 g/L Residual Sugar.
